Passion for chocolate, absolute dedication to the work involved and a continuous striving for perfection. These are the qualities that come to life in every taste of the precious Amedei chocolate. Cecilia Tessieri, the first woman to take on the role of maitre chocolatier, made a brave decision in trying to produce the best chocolate in the world from bean to bar, overseeing each phase of the production. Not only has she been able to turn her dream into reality, dedicating herself to the art of chocolate, she has also set in place an ecologically sustainable production process, formed a strong brand identity and researched, together with her mother Ida, the design of the confections.
To date, Amedei has demonstrated a turnover of nearly 4 million Euro of which 45% is derived from sales in Italy and  55% from abroad. The main export markets are  Europe,  United States, Australia, Hong Kong Singapore and Japan. There are about 30 employees, mostly women, working at the plant. It is an old establishment converted from a cast iron factory, 2500 square meters with the charm of an old world workshop. The preparation of the chocolate, consisting of a good 120 varieties, follows a process and diverse phases which are all overseen by Cecilia personally. The resulting product reveals itself as a unique creation, handmade with great care and passion.
The daily philosophy that inspires the team is to attain a product of excellent quality, vigorously respecting the principles of sustainable production and social responsibility. Amedei has obtained the ISO 9001 certificate which attests to the quality of management, the company also observes EMAS regulations with the purpose of making continuous improvements in diminishing any negative impact on the environment. (EMAS – Eco Management and Audit Scheme, is an instrument created by the European Community. Companies can participate voluntarily to evaluate and improve their consideration of the environment and to furnish information to the public and other interested parties about their own environmental management policies).
Through Amedei, cocoa is also becoming instrumental in the rebirth of the territory in which it grows: the Tuscan company is particularly attentive to the improvement in quality of life and to the quality of working conditions of the people that cultivate the cocoa. Amedei’s agricultural experts visit the villages at various times during the year to ensure that everything is running smoothly, creating a special bond with the campesiños. In this way the successful marketing of Amedei has brought direct advantages to the local inhabitants, sustained by their efforts to produce high quality cocoa.

La passione per il cioccolato, la più assoluta dedizione al lavoro e la continua ricerca della perfezione. Sono queste le qualità che rivivono ad ogni assaggio del prezioso cioccolato Amedei. Produrre il cioccolato più buono del mondo, dal seme alla tavoletta, curando tutte le fasi è stata, infatti, la scelta coraggiosa di Cecilia Tessieri, la prima donna a ricoprire il ruolo di maître chocolatier, che non solo ha saputo trasformare in realtà il sogno di dedicarsi al cioccolato, ma ha anche messo a punto un metodo di produzione ecosostenibile, ha delineato l’identità del brand e studiato, insieme alla mamma Ida, il design delle confezioni.
Oggi il fatturato di Amedei ha raggiunto quasi 4 milioni di Euro di cui il 45 % derivanti dalle vendite in Italia ed il restante 55 % dal fatturato estero. Nello stabilimento, una ex vecchia fabbrica di ghisa di 2.500 metri quadrati con lo charme di un laboratorio vecchia maniera, lavorano circa 30 persone, la maggior parte delle quali sono donne. La preparazione del cioccolato, nella forma di ben 120 prodotti diversi, segue un processo e diverse fasi tutte curate personalmente da Cecilia. Il risultato finale si rivela in creazioni uniche, confezionate a mano con grande cura e passione.
La filosofia che quotidianamente ispira il lavoro del team punta a realizzare un prodotto che persegue standard qualitativi eccellenti, rispettando rigorosamente i principî della produzione sostenibile e della responsabilità sociale. Amedei ha ottenuto il certificato ISO 9001 che attesta la qualità del sistema di gestione, l’azienda osserva inoltre il regolamento EMAS allo scopo di attuare un miglioramento continuo e costante nei confronti dell’impatto ambientale. (EMAS – Eco-Management and Audit Scheme è uno strumento creato dalla Comunità Europea al quale possono aderire volontariamente le aziende per valutare e migliorare le proprie prestazioni ambientali e fornire al pubblico e ad altri soggetti interessati informazioni sulla propria gestione ambientale).
Attraverso Amedei il cacao diventa anche uno strumento di rinascita del territorio: l’azienda toscana è particolarmente attenta al miglioramento delle condizioni di vita ed alla qualità del lavoro delle popolazioni che coltivano il cacao. I suoi agronomi visitano i villaggi varie volte l’anno per assicurarsi che tutto proceda per il meglio, creando un legame molto speciale con i campesiños. La commercializzazione di Amedei ha quindi portato diretti vantaggi agli abitanti locali, sostenuti nel loro sforzo di produrre cacao di grande qualità.
